Rs. 500 cr. project for development of Govt. Hospitals

By Our Staff Reporter

THRISSUR, NOV. 24. The Health Minister, Mr. P. Sankaran today said that the Government will implement the Rs. 500-crore World Bank aided project for development of Government Hospitals in the State.

Inaugurating the `Lions Service Trust' formed by the Lions Club to help the accident victims here, the Minister said that another project of Rs. 150 crore, with Centre and World Bank assistance, will be implemented for modernising the medical college hospitals in the State.

``The Government will offer all help to organisations that lend a helping hand in the health sector. People are reluctant to help the accident victims because of the fear of entangling themselves in legal hassles. In these circumstances, the entry of private organisations to help accident victims is welcome,'' he said.

The Lions District Governor and Trust chairman, Dr. K K Mohandas presided. The Mayor of Thrissur Corporation, Mr. Jose Kattookkaran distributed the membership of the Trust.
