ICC's deadline to BCCI
LONDON, NOV. 27. The International Cricket Council (ICC) today
gave a 72-hour deadline to the Indian Cricket Board to drop
Virender Sehwag from the first test match against England next
week, hinting that the tie may otherwise be stripped of official
status.
The inclusion of Sehwag, who was banned for one test by the
controversial ICC referee, Mr. Mike Denness in South Africa, in
the test against England at Mohali, near Chandigarh, from
December 3, would be in breach of the ICC's ruling, the game's
governing body told the Indian Board.
Meanwhile, a report from Jaipur says that Sourav Ganguly was
today retained captain of the Indian cricket team for the entire
home series against England. The national selectors met here
today and named Ganguly the skipper for the three-test and five
one-day matches, the Selection Committee Chairman, Mr. Chandu
Borde, said.
