TDP chief falters, says MSR
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD, NOV. 27. The APCC president, Mr. M. Satyanarayana Rao,
has ridiculed the Cabinet reshuffle undertaken by the Chief
Minister, Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu, with an indirect reference to
inclusion of persons facing criminal charges.
At a press conference, Mr. Rao avoided naming any person but
pointed out that the exercise was in contrast to the tall claims
made by the Chief Minister. At least one of the sacked Ministers
challenged Mr. Naidu to show reasons for his dismissal, he said.
The PCC president said the removal of three women Ministers also
called for an explanation as the TDP was said to have come to
power due to the patronage of women. Trouble was brewing for Mr.
Naidu, he remarked.
Mr. Satyanarayana Rao said he would set up a committee of experts
and Congress leaders to study the controversial Pulichintala
project and submit a report based on which the party would take a
stand.
Earlier in the day, he met a delegation from Krishna district led
by the former deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Koneru Ranga Rao, who
pleaded with him to make the party's stand on Pulichintala clear.
They drew his attention to the critical remarks of Mr. P.
Govardhan Reddy, Munugodu MLA, against the leader of the CLP, Dr.
Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on the Pulichintala project.
The PCC president told reporters that the committee would study
the project in detail in the light of the misgivings in Telangana
region. It would consist of irrigation experts and leaders of the
party including some MLAs. But the party leaders from Nalgonda
and Krishna would not be included in the committee as the
controversy mainly pertained to the interests of the two
districts.
