Ban on parking of vehicles modified

By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE, NOV. 28. The City police have modified the ban on parking of vehicles on J.C. Road, City Market, and Avenue Road.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. H.T.Sangliana, told presspersons here on Wednesday that he had ordered the modification following an inspection of J.C. and Avenue roads, and the City Market area on Wednesday morning.

The modification would come into effect from December 1. Under the new guidelines, two-wheelers would be allowed to be parked on J.C.Road in an ``angular fashion.'' A shopkeeper on the road would be allowed to park only one two-wheeler there. The shopkeepers should intimate the police the registration number of their vehicles. The move would allow more customers to park their vehicles on the road.

The review of the ban had been taken up as the City police had found that the road was big enough for parking of vehicles.

Two-wheelers would be permitted to be parked on sections of Avenue Road, where were broad. The ban would be enforced in areas where the road narrowed.

Mr. Sangliana said the City police would ban the movement of push carts, bullock carts and hand carts on Avenue Road from 9.30 a.m. to noon, and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. This ban would be in effect from December 1 to 7.

He said he would write to the Commissioner of the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) regarding parking of vehicles in the cellar of the new Krishnaraja Market in City Market.
