TD refutes Congress allegation

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD, NOV. 28. The Telugu Desam party on Wednesday dismissed as `politically motivated', the Congress Legislature Party leaders' allegation that those having a criminal record were taken into the State Cabinet.

In a joint statement, Mr. K. Venkat Rao, Government Chief Whip, Mr. N. Anjaneyulu, MLA and Politburo Member, Mr. P. Raghunatha Reddy, MLA and Government Whip and Dr. N. Sudhakar Rao, said, no chargesheet was filed against Dr. Kodela Sivaprasada Rao. It was surprising that the Congress leaders who were in the habit of demanding a CBI probe, were unable to digest the fact that the CBI itself had given him a clean chit.

In the case of Mr. Rama Subba Reddy, the Congress leaders were misleading people by claiming as if the charges against him were proved in the Court. "In a similar vein, will the Congress MLAs, who were facing criminal charges, call themselves criminals ?" they asked.

They said the Chief Minister, Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu, gave a thought to it from all angles and then gone in for Cabinet reshuffle. Since there was no other issue left, the Congress leaders were picking up non-issues, they remarked.
