Modern urinals to be ready soon: MCH official

HYDERABAD, NOV. 28. Fifty of the 150 modern urinals sanctioned by
the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad in the twin cities, have
been completed so far. The rest would be ready in the next two or
three months, the MCH Additional Commissioner, Mr. Jaganaddha
Rao, said on Wednesday.
He was replying to a query from a caller from RTC crossroads, Mr.
S. Krishna, during the weekly `Face to face programme'. Spots for
locating the modern urinals were already identified, he said,
adding that 30 such urinals had been completed in the
Secunderabad area. The complaint was about stench and overflow
from open urinals near Odeon theatre, due to lack of proper
facilities.
The Tourism Minister, Mr. T. Srinivas Yadav, replied to
complaints regarding encroachment, inadequate water supply,
overflow of drainage and delay in sanction of drinking water
supply connections. Mr. M. G. Gopal, Managing Director, HMWS&SB,
also answered queries. Officials of the APSRTC, APGenco, AP
Telecom besides MCH and HMWSSB were present.
While Mr. Amarnath, of Kalasiguda, complained of illegal
constructions in the area and lack of official response despite
several representations, Mr. Solomon, of Musheerabad, spoke of
grabbing of church land. Mr. Rao assured to depute Town Planning
officials to look into the matter.
Mr. Jagadeswara Rao, of Premnagar, Khairatabad, alleged that
vegetable pushcart vendors were occupying the recently widened
road in his area rendering it useless for residents.
To a complaint from Mrs. Nasreen, of Himayatnagar, regarding
congestion of the lane next to Galaxy Hotel, caused by
overflowing dustbins and occupation by beggars and rap pickers,
he said the lane had been included in the MCH plan to widen 200
roads in the City. Work on it was expected to be completed in six
months.
Mrs. Atul Jain of Sultan Bazar, Mr. Mohd. Ibrahim of Adikmet,
Messrs -- Madhusudhan and Karim, of Gunfoundry, complained about
inadequate supply of drinking water. Mr. Gopal said the problem
was due to dislocation of water lines and assured that the supply
in twin cities would improve in the next three or four days.
Mr. Gopalakrishna, of Madhapur, Messrs -- Gopaiah and Nagesh of
Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Kukatpally, said no water supply connections
were released to them even after payment of the requisite fee.
Mr. Raghu, of Sithaphalmandi, wanted the movement of lorries to
be stopped for one hour in the mornings near the level crossing
to enable school children move freely.
