Andipatti poll in February?
By J. Venkatesan

NEW DELHI, DEC. 5. The Election Commissioner, Mr. T.S. Krishnamurthy, today indicated that byelections to the Saidapet and Andipatti Assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu would be held in February along with the polls to four State Assemblies.

This has assumed importance after the acquittal of the AIADMK supremo, Ms. Jayalalithaa, in the TANSI and Pleasant Stay Hotel cases by the Madras High Court as she has planned to contest the polls from Andipatti.

The E.C. said the Commission was still discussing the probable dates for holding the polls in Uttar Pradesh and a decision would be taken shortly.
