T.N. politics lightens LS proceedings
By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, DEC. 5. The politics in Tamil Nadu lightened the proceedings of the Lok Sabha today when the AIADMK member, Mr. P. H. Pandian, used his turn in the zero hour to announce with gusto that ``my leader, Dr. Puratchi Thalavi (revolutionary leader) is going to assume the office of Chief Minister at a proper time''.

Seeking to present the State's case in the recent hooch tragedy in the Cuddalore district - an issue raised earlier by a fellow-member from Tamil Nadu amid reminders that this was a purely State subject - Mr. Pandian said the DMK members had raised the matter in the Lok Sabha only to discredit his party because they were unable to ``digest her victory'' in court on Tuesday.

According to Mr. Pandian, the dealer involved in the hooch tragedy was not a member of his party. He said, ``During the erstwhile DMK regime, there was a liquor syndicate all over Tamil Nadu. We wanted to break the syndicate to fetch more funds for the State exchequer.''
