Irina keeps lead

KOLKATA, DEC. 5. Irina Brar continued to lead the field with a round of three-over-par 73 on the second day of the 40th East India ladies golf championship at the Tollygunge Club course here on Wednesday.

Local challenger and a leading light, Vandana Agarwal, provided the day's spark with a fine round of two-over-par 72 to occupy the second spot behind Irina, albeit six strokes adrift the leader. Mayali Talwar was further two strokes behind to hold the third place. Mayali returned a card of seven-over-par 77.

In the Open scratch Trophy event, Sonia Barman recorded an 85 to race ahead of the field. Following her was Premlata Rao six strokes behind and Rina Sen was in the third place. - Our Special Correspondent
