Four-wkt. win for Tamil Nadu

BANGALORE, DEC. 5. The Karnataka seamers pressed hard but Hemang Badani guided Tamil Nadu to a four-wicket victory in the Ranji Trophy match which concluded at the RSI Ground here on Wednesday. Badani's unbeaten 34 helped Tamil Nadu get past the modest target of 136 from 43 overs after Vijay Bharadwaj's unbeaten double century had triggered hopes in the Karnataka camp.
Earlier, the host extended its overnight score of 233 for three to 388 as Bharadwaj (207 n.o., 32x4, 1x6) charted his highest Ranji score. Tamil Nadu seamer L. Balaji got his just rewards (four for 120) while Anand Katti and Mansur Ali Khan misread his inswinger and got castled.
Tamil Nadu bagged eight points to increase its tally to 13 from two outings while Karnataka stayed at three from two matches. Tamil Nadu clashes with Hyderabad at Chennai while Karnataka takes on Andhra at Kurnool in the next set of Ranji matches commencing on December 10.
