KERC to hold public hearings from Dec. 10
By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE, DEC. 5. From December 10, the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) will hold public hearings on issues ranging from Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) to compliance with its directives.

The KERC Chairman, Mr. Philipose Mathai, told presspersons that on December 10, there would be a public hearing on the objections raised to the PPA between Jindal Tractebel Power Company and the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited. The hearing would be held at 3 p.m. at the Court Hall, KERC, 9/12, 6th floor, Mahalakshmi Chambers, M.G.Road.

The next day, the KPTCL would present what it had achieved with regard to a KERC directive on improving its management information system. On December 19, there would be a hearing on the KPTCL's compliance with the KERC directives on quality of service and transformer failure. On December 21, there would be a hearing on the commission's directives with regard to energy audit.

Mr. Mathai said the KERC felt that the KPTCL's latest tariff petition was ``not complete''. ``We have asked for initial clarifications, but have not yet started examining the ``core'' of the petition. We will do so when we get all the clarifications we need,'' he said.
