Man killed in attack

CHENNAI, DEC. 5. A 25-year-old man was killed in an armed group's attack at Mylapore today.
According to the police, there was a quarrel over fetching water between Vijayakumar and a group of persons on Shanmugam Street a couple of days ago. When he was walking down the road, a group armed with lethal weapons attacked him.
He was admitted to the Government Royapettah Hospital where he died later. Mylapore police are investigating.
Run over by lorry
An employee in the RTO office at Royapuram was fatally run over by a container lorry at Koyambedu this morning.
The police said Selvaraj was in the pillion when his friend, Mohanraj, was riding a two-wheeler. At the Koyambedu signal point, the moped hit a vehicle. Selvaraj was thrown out and run over by the lorry. The lorry driver, Syed Sukur, was arrested.
Cash stolen
A cash of Rs. 2 lakhs was stolen from a company at Ayappakkam near Ambattur on Monday.
The police said the incident came to light on Tuesday morning. A complaint was lodged with the Ambattur police.
Silver articles seized
The Government Railway Police seized silver articles worth Rs. 1 lakh from a train passenger and arrested him on Tuesday.
According to the police, during a check on the luggage of the commuter, Mr Ramesh Babu, his suitcase was found containing silver articles. He was not able to explain the source, the police said.
