Naxals trigger blasts in protest against POTO
JAGDALPUR (Chhattisgarh), DEC. 6. Naxals triggered landmine explosions at several places, including two Government buildings, and attacked a police station in tribal-dominated Bastar area on Wednesday night.
The Konta Janpad Panchayat and block development office buildings in Dantewada district were badly damaged and official documents destroyed in the blasts, police said.
The naxals also fired at Kistaram police station of Dantewada district. However, no casuality has been reported so far.
Meanwhile, road traffic was paralysed and commercial establishments remained closed at several places in the wake of a naxals' call for a Bastar bandh today in protest against the Prevention of Terrorism Ordinance.
Meanwhile in Patna, the Communist Party of India (ML) today criticised the Centre for banning the ultra outfits - Maoist Communist Centre (MCC) and People's War Group - under the POTO and said the action is an insult to Parliamentary democracy.
