Cotton growers withdraw stir in Maharashtra

NAGPUR, DEC. 6. The on-going agitation of cotton growers in Maharashtra which had been rocking the State Legislature for the past two days, was withdrawn today with the Government making a minor concession.

It would pay in one go 90 per cent of the growers' bills for the cotton procured at the support price of Rs. 1,875 per quintal and the balance before the end of the current financial year, according to the Chief Minister, Mr. Vilasrao Deshmukh, who made a statement in the Assembly.
