Irina set to win title

KOLKATA, DEC. 6. Irina Brar continued to lead the field with another fine round of one over par 71 at the end of the third day of the 40th East India ladies golf championship at the Tollygunge Club course here on Thursday.

Irina, who carded 71 and 73 in the first two rounds, had a total of 215 for three rounds. Mayali Talwar with a round of 73 took the second spot for the day as well as in the overall standing with 225 for three rounds. Vandana Agarwal brought in 76 to be on the third spot with a tally of 226.

Parneet Garewal brought in four over par 74 to take her cumulative total to 230 to jointly be on the fourth spot with Anjali Chopra, who carded a 75.

In the Bronze Open Scratch Trophy, Sonia Barman again returned a good score to retain her comfortable lead over the rest of the field. Tomorrow is the last and final day of the meet.
