NEW DELHI, DEC. 6. Wild card entrant Mahesh Bhupathi lost 6-7 (3-7), 6-4, 3-6 to the seventh-seeded Martin Verkerk of the Netherlands in the pre-quarterfinals of the $25,000 Challenger in Bangkok on Thursday.

Meanwhile, in the Queen's Cup $25,000 event in the same place, the second-seeded Manisha Malhotra and Mi Ra Jeon of Korea defeated Yuliana Fedak of Ukraine and Irina Kornienko of Russia 6-2, 6-4 in the first round of doubles.

The Indo-Korean combination will meet wild card entrants Wilawan Choptang and Napaporn Tongsalee of Thailand in the quarterfinals.
