By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI, DEC. 6. The DMK president, Mr. M. Karunanidhi, criticised for the second day today the AIADMK Government on the price rise issue, describing the rollback as a ``convenient drama'' and said no one would be ``fooled''. ``Andipatty is the reason for the rollback,'' he said.
Asked whether the coming together of the Congress, the Left parties and the DMK marked a new shift in the State politics, he said there was no politics in the bandh call. ``This is a people's problem. There is no need to drag politics into this,'' he said.
The Tamil Maanila Congress could not agree with the contention that people should be at the receiving end of the Government's austerity measures, the party president, Mr. G. K. Vasan, said, marking his difference with the AIADMK regime. The party appealed to respond to the bandh call. Mr. Vasan suggested that an all-party meet be convened to discuss ways of shoring up finances by other means. Opinion could also be elicited from economists and financial experts.
The Tamizhaga Rajiv Congress, the Tamil Nadu Janata Dal (United) and the UCPI also stood firm in their decision to go ahead with the bandh call for, even after the rollback, the hike affected all sections. The struggle would continue until the Government announced a complete withdrawal of the hike, Mr.Vazhapadi K. Ramamurthy, TRC president, said.
The DK president, Mr. K. Veeramani, appealed to traders and workers not to abstain from work. The Government's ``good intentions'' had to be understood and the people should not heed the Opposition call, he said.

The General Insurance Employees Association will support the bandh and hold demonstrations in various parts of the State. The Tamil Chamber of Commerce and Industry has said trade and industry will take an ``appropriate decision in accordance with the prevailing situations in their respective localities.''
The Tamil Nadu Vanigar Sangankalin Peravai has called for a rollback and said it would participate in tomorrow's protest.
