Mayor's office to sport new look
By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE, DEC. 6. The Mayor, Mr. K.Chandrashekar's office will soon get a new look with the first citizen ordering renovation of his office.

While sources point out that the Mayor was getting the office renovated in accordance with ``Vaastu,'' Mr. Chandrashekar claimed that ``it was being done to create more working space.''

The office, presently occupied by the Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF), will be shifted to some other chamber and the entire stretch will be included into the Mayor's office, sources said.

It may be noted that several mayors, who ruled the City in the past, had altered the seating arrangements in their office. They had even shifted offices from the old building to the new building and vice-versa to suit the ``Vaastu shastra.''

While the first Mayor of the previous BMP Council, Ms. Padmavathy Gangadhara Gowda, had occupied a chamber in the new building, her successor Mr. J.Huchappa, had moved into the old building. ``Ms. Padmavathy had to face many problems during her tenure and it was all because of improper Vaastu. That is why, I am shifting my office to the old building,'' Mr. Huchappa had said while occupying the chamber.

Mr. Chandrashekar, however, claims that the renovation is aimed at improving service to the people at the Mayor's office. ``There will be a lounge for visitors and a hall for addressing grievances,'' he said.

This apart, the administrative office will be computerised. Over 10 computers will be installed in the office to streamline the process of disposing files.

The renovation work that began on Thursday is likely to be completed in a week.
