Reconstruction of Babri Masjid demanded
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD, DEC. 6. Activists of the City-based Darsgahe Jehad-o-Shahdat (DJS), on Thursday, took out a rally to mark the ninth anniversary of the Babri Masjid's demolition and demanded its reconstruction at the same spot in Ayodhya.
Led by Mr. Mahboob Ali, DJS president, the rallyists, including a large number of burka-clad women, marched to the Indira Park, where a public meeting was held. Ms. Sandhya of the Progressive Organisation of Women (POW) and Mr. Giri Yadav of the People's Party took part in the procession to express their solidarity with the DJS.
The processionists, most of them youngsters sporting Arab-style headgear, raised slogans like ``we want rebuilding of the Babri Masjid -- no compromise on it'' and ``we will demolish the proposed Ram temple and rebuild the mosque.'' They claimed that the September 11 attacks in the U.S. were answers to their prayers. They held placards on the DJS demands and also hailing Osama bin Laden.
A feature of the rally was the presence of boys and girls in separate groups. They raised slogans while walking along with their senior DJS leaders.
The police, who permitted the rally, made elaborate bandobust along the procession route up to the Indira Park to prevent any untoward incident.
