Fair value of land to be notified

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, DEC. 6. The Rural Development and Registration Minister, Mr. C.F. Thomas, has said that the Government would soon declare the fair value of land all over the State.
Replying to a submission by Mr. N.D. Appachan (Congress) in the Assembly today, the Minister said the Government had given four months' time to the officials concerned to finalise the fair value of land in different parts of the State.
Hill authority: The Chief Minister, Mr. A.K. Antony, told Mr. K.K. Ramachandran Master (Cong.) that the Revenue Secretary had been appointed as Special Officer to put up proposals for constituting the Hill Area Development Authority. The Government had in principle approved the proposal for constituting the authority and Rs. 1 crore had been earmarked for the purpose, he recalled.
The Rural Development Minister told Ms. P.K. Sreemathi Teacher (CPI-M) that the Health Department had finalised steps for purchasing bandage cloth from the handloom cooperatives. The Government, he said, had also released Rs. 30 lakhs to assist the cooperatives to procure 150 lakh bales of cotton.
Palakappandy scheme: The Irrigation Minister, Mr. T.M. Jacob, told Mr. K.A. Chandran (Cong.) that the Government would implement the Palakappandy scheme which was essential for the State to derive full benefits from the Chulliyar irrigation scheme. The preliminary investigation had been completed and the scheme was estimated to cost Rs. 9 crores, he said.
