RSS denies reports on Hindu-Muslim dialogue
By Our Staff Reporter

KOCHI, DEC.06. The RSS State secretary, Mr. A.R. Mohan, has denied press reports about an initiative for a formal dialogue between Hindu-Muslim groups.

In a press release issued here today, he said some reports mentioned about some efforts going on in Malabar for sorting out the differences between the important constituents of both communities. The reports were based on statements from Jamaat-e-Islami, Muslim League and VHP functionaries.

He said the reports created an impression that efforts had been started for dialogue between the two community leaders, especially in the light of the talks held between Hindu and Christian leaders. No such efforts had taken place, he said. RSS workers had the opportunity to meet Muslim leaders in Kerala during the public contact programme last year, but it was a general programme to explain the RSS stand on national issues and not a formal dialogue.

Even in the case of dialogues with the Christian leaders, the initiative was taken by Mr. John Joseph, a member of the National Commission for Minorities, and RSS wholeheartedly joined the discussions, he said.
