- PTI

FARRUKHABAD (U.P.), DEC. 7. More than 18 policemen and some Samajwadi Party (SP) workers were injured in a clash when the latter tried to take out a procession in violation of the prohibitory orders enforced in the city on the anniversary of the Babri mosque demolition, official sources said today.

Eight members of the party, including the local SP leader, Ms. Urmila Rajput, and her son Mr. Panchsheel, were arrested on charges of breach of peace and causing law and order problems yesterday, the sources said, adding they were later released on furnishing personal bonds.

Trouble erupted when Ms. Rajput, her son and other SP workers tried to take out a procession. They clashed with police, resulting in injuries to several policemen, the sources said, adding police had to use force to disperse the agitators. - PTI
