ISRO's moon programme to be launched
By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, DEC. 8. The Department of Space is likely to begin its ambitious `Mission to the Moon' programme with the launch of a satellite that would orbit the moon at a height of 100 km above its surface. This was indicated by the Department in a presentation to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science and Technology.

The special lunar mission task force set up by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is considering ``a baseline approach for sending a lunar orbiter, which can be placed in the polar orbit of the moon, about 100 km above its surface'', the Department told the panel.
