A boost to divestment: Shourie

NEW DELHI, DEC. 10. The upholding of the BALCO privatisation by the Supreme Court would provide a boost to the divestment process, the Disinvestment Minister, Mr. Arun Shourie, said today.

``Yes, the process will be strengthened (because of favourable judgment). We will cite the judgment at High Courts in Madras and Karnataka where some cases relating to the ITDC disinvestment are being heard,'' he told `Aaj Tak' from Tokyo, where he is part of the Prime Minister's delegation.

We respect the verdict: Jogi

In Raipur, the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister, Mr. Ajit Jogi, said ``we respect the judgment of the Supreme Court on BALCO''.

``However, we have not yet seen the entire judgment. Hence we will not be able to give a detailed opinion,'' he said.
