It is for Pak. to act: Advani
By Manas Dasgupta

AHMEDABAD, DEC. 15. India will ``watch for a few days'' for Pakistan's response to its diplomatic initiative demanding action against terrorist organisations such as the Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e- Mohammad before considering its next step, the Union Home Minister, Mr. L. K. Advani, said here today.

He told the media after inaugurating the Regional Telecom Training Centre (RTTC) at Jagatpur on the Ahmedabad- Gandhinagar highway that it was now for Pakistan to ``act true to their utterances and statements'' of supporting the global war against terrorism.

He said India's demand for action against the Lashkar and the Jaish was not unfounded as the Foreign Secretary, Ms. Chokila Iyer, took the diplomatic initiative of asking Islamabad to ban these Pakistan-based organisations, arrest their leaders and freeze their financial assets only after the intelligence agencies found definite evidences linking them with Thursday's attack on Parliament.

Asked what India's next step would be, Mr. Advani said ``let us watch for a few days'' about Pakistan's response to India's diplomatic initiative. But he did not specify any deadline nor did he give any hint about the steps being considered by the Centre.
