Opinion - Letters to the Editor

A lesson to be learnt

Sir, - The death of security personnel in the terrorist attack on Parliament confirms the sense of devotion to duty of our police and paramilitary forces in guarding national pride. But it is sad that their sacrifice will never be able to correct our faulty politicians, and no, not even those who were inside Parliament at the time of their death. Our leaders at all levels throughout the country are out to divide the nation by all means at their disposal.

Sunil Chauhan,

Ghaziabad, U.P.

Sir, - I am delighted that it has been brought home to the bedfellows of the likes of Veerappan and Dawood Ibrahim that the soft, corrupt underbelly of a soft and corrupt state is not immune from terrorism. If politics be choosing the lesser evil, what might one choose?

It is only when the ruling classes come under direct threat that we may hope for some movement towards security and a clean, strong, performance and merit oriented governance.

S. Suchindranath Aiyer,

Bangalore
