Juniors working on specifics
CHENNAI, DEC. 22. The lateral movement that the under-19 boys would encounter in New Zealand is indeed on coach Balwinder Singh Sandhu's mind. In fact, it is among the specifics that he and the probables have been working on in the preparatory camp in Bangalore.
Sandhu, a member of the triumphant 1983 World Cup team, and the 26 junior World Cup probables, along with NCA physio-cum-trainer Arjun Rana and National Cricket Academy assistant coach Rajesh Kamath, were in Chennai between Thursday and Saturday for three back-to-back practice matches at the IIT- Chemplast ground against a Chemplast team. The contingent left for Bangalore for the final phase of the camp on Saturday night.
Friday's game was rained out while Saturday's was a truncated affair. Sandhu said they made the best use of the opportunity they got here.
The third ICC Junior World Cup is to be held in New Zealand between January 19 and February 10. India won the last edition held in Sri Lanka in 2000.
