Human chain for peace

Sir, - This refers to the front page photo (Dec. 26) depicting ``people for peace join hands to form a human chain around India Gate in New Delhi on Tuesday''.

All these ``sentimentally-virtuous people'' do resort to this ``fine'' gesture of preaching peace whenever we in India resort to self-protective action against Pakistan. It is strange that the very same people who advocate peace are found nowhere when terrorists kill innocent people in Jammu and Kashmir and the northeast. What prevents these good-intentioned people from going to these areas and arranging human chains for peace?

K. Ramani,

Chennai
