Sasikiran holds Harikrishna
HASTINGS, DEC. 31. Defending champion Grandmaster K. Sasikiran began his campaign with a hard fought draw against compatriot GM P. Harikrishna in the first round of the premier tournament in the Hastings international chess congress here on Sunday.
In a big upset GM Alxei Barsov of Uzbekistan crashed through the defences of top seed GM Zhan Zhong of China while International Master Irina Krush of the United States failed to hold on to her own and lost a long drawn endgame against GM Petr Kiriakov of Russia.
