Sir, - This refers to ``Degrees of powerlessness'' (Dec. 30), which rightly mentioned that men publicly question women's abilities and speak in a demoralising tone. Women are discriminated against in every sphere and it includes educational institutions.

I am a student of a reputed engineering college and we were told openly by a professor that girls were not meant to study engineering but supposed to cook in the house.
