PM's call to SAARC nations

KATHMANDU, JAN. 2. The Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee, has called upon the South Asian countries to desist from aiding or abetting terrorism in any form, and declared that countering the menace would define the SAARC agenda in the next decade.

``No Government should be allowed to justify terrorism under any pretext,'' Mr. Vajpayee said in an interview to the Nepalese news agency Rashtriya Samachar Samiti on the eve of his visit to Kathmandu for the 11th SAARC summit.

``We in South Asia have been suffering the consequences of terrorist activities for decades. Religious fundamentalism, combined with terrorism, has been blatantly used as an instrument of state policy,'' he said.
