`They like it when I speak in English'

LUCKNOW, JAN. 3. The Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, today said that people did not relish it if he did not read out his address in English.

Mr. Vajpayee said this after reading out his seven- page inaugural address in English at the 89th session of the Indian Science Congress at the Lucknow University here.

``I read out my address in Hindi abroad as people do not mind speaking the mother tongue,'' he said. ``I would, however, like to clarify that here people sometimes do not like it if I do not speak in English,'' he said.
