By Our Sports Reporter

CHENNAI, JAN. 4. Auctions have always been a stupendous success during the event for the past five years, and who would dare say that it would be any different this year at Taj Corromendal on Wednesday.

Who else than the inimitable Vijay Amritraj to conduct the show, which rolled on with Nafisa Joseph and Ash Chandler. The audience included prominent names such as all-time great Kapil Dev, the dashing opener Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Simone Tata, Anand Amritraj, Mr. Ravi Krishnan of International Management Group, Mose Navarrra with his wife Sheetal, Mahesh Bhupathi and his fianci Swetha Jaishankar.

Karthik Chidambaram of Meltrack hit the nail on the head by winning the bid of one lakh for a T-shirt signed by the French Team that won the Davis Cup defeating Australia recently. He also won a five-day stay in 2-bedroom apartment at 21 Buckingham.

The other things which were auctioned are: Golf caps signed by Vijay Singh and other top international golfers, a pair of autographed shoes from Todd Woodbridge (bought again by Karthik Chidambaram), T-Shirt autographed by Andre Agassi and tickets to the U.S. Open (bought by Mr. N.
