Ex-CM held in Pakistan
By B. Muralidhar Reddy

ISLAMABAD, JAN. 6 The Pakistan authorities have detained more members of Lashkar-e- Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad in the continuing crackdown on jehadi groups.

Reports from the Punjab province said dozens of activists of the two outfits, who are accused by the Indian Government for involvement in the December 13 attack on Parliament, have been taken into custody.

A spokesman of the Jaish, Hassan Burki, has been quoted as saying ``police entered our homes, insulting our elders and women. They searched our homes for weapons and messed up everything.''

In a related development, the police on Sunday arrested a former Chief Minister of the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) on his arrival here after two years in exile in London. Aftab Ahmed Sherpao, who had twice served as provincial Chief Minister during the former Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto's stints in power (1988-90 and 1993-96), was taken into custody on corruption charges.
