Tell us the `complete' truth: MQM leader
By B. Muralidhar Reddy

ISLAMABAD, JAN. 6. The Muttahida Quami Movement chief, Altaf Hussain, has accused the Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf, of speaking ``partial truth'' on the `jehadi' groups in Pakistan, and said it was time the Government spoke the ``whole truth'' about them.

In a statement here, Mr. Hussain, on exile in London, expressed surprise over Gen. Musharraf's remarks that the so- called `jehadi' groups were responsible for tarnishing Pakistan's image in the eyes of the international community.

Expressing his concern over the ``partial truth,'' he wanted to know whether the `jehadis' alone were responsible for the ``image,'' or there were more powerful, vested interests which had pushed Pakistan into this unwanted and embarrassing situation.

``The time has come for Gen. Musharraf to rise above the occasion, speak up the whole truth and nothing but the whole truth - the President should take the nation into confidence,'' he said in the statement.

The MQM leader said Gen. Musharraf alone could tell the nation who had created, armed, financed, organised and patronised the `jehadi' groups and organisations in Pakistan.
