Opinion - Letters to the Editor

Why Tamil Nadu lags

Sir, - I completely agree with V. Jayanth's report, `Focus on politics, not on industry' (Jan. 7). I wonder why leaders in Tamil Nadu do not show any interest in inviting foreign dignitaries to Chennai. They are much more concerned about the removal and replacing of a statue which in no way is going to help the State. This continues in spite of the promise to bring Tamil Nadu to the top in the country.

Politicians' deeds need to be matched with their words. They must stop quarrelling over petty issues.

Most of the MNCs like Microsoft, Oracle, Lucent, Texas Instruments and Motorola prefer either Bangalore or Hyderabad to set up their offices.

It is nice to know that Tamil Nadu remains in the top league of States in terms of projects/investments cleared. But how long would this continue if the attitude of these leaders remain unchanged.

Arun Kumar. S,

Chennai
