Criminal probe into Enron

WASHINGTON, JAN. 10. U.S. Justice Department has begun a criminal investigation into Enron Corporation to find out whether the company defrauded investors by deliberately concealing crucial information about its finances.

The department has formed a task force which would include Federal prosecutors from New York, San Francisco and Enron's home city of Houston, officials said.
