Pak. gets Chinese fighter planes

ISLAMABAD, JAN. 10. Pakistan has received the first batch of 40 Chinese-made fighter aircraft under a deal, a defence official said today. The first consignment of 10 F-7Pg aircraft was delivered to Pakistan in December and the rest would be supplied this year, he said.

``The delivery of the planes and the deal itself have no connection at all with the current crisis between India and Pakistan. It was a deal which was made early last year,'' the official said.

Pakistani officials denied local press reports that China had supplied new defence equipment to Pakistan to bolster its capability in the current stand-off with India. - AFP
