NEW DELHI, JAN. 10. While the January 10 deadline set by the External Affairs Ministry for the Pakistan High Commission to receive the bodies of the five terrorists killed in the Parliament complex on December 13 lapsed today, the Delhi police were yet to send word formally to the Wakf Board for the disposal of the bodies.
The Wakf Board chairman, Haroon Yusuf, said some policemen had contacted him on burial of the bodies.
``But we cannot proceed until we receive an official request to dispose of the bodies,'' said Mr. Yusuf. The board was awaiting an official communication from the Delhi Police Commissioner, Ajai Raj Sharma, or from the Union Home Ministry. It is learnt that the bodies would be buried in an undisclosed cemetery.
Police sources said the issue would be discussed by senior officers on Friday to decide what to do with the bodies. Police would also seek orders from the Home Ministry.Earlier, Mr. Sharma said police had through the Indian Government given an ultimatum to Pakistan to accept the bodies, but the Pakistan High Commission refused to do so claiming they were not Pakistan nationals.
