BIKANER, JAN. 12. The fire at the oil depot in the Udasar Army area, which gutted 80 ammunition-laden trucks of a convoy, was doused today. Fire-fighters brought the 200-ft-high flames under control last night but the blaze continued to rage in the oil depot this morning. Panic-stricken people from 24 localities, who were shifted to safer places, returned home.
Two missiles hit the cancer ward of PBM Hospital killing two and injuring one. Eleven civilians were injured as the explosives hit residential areas.
The Defence Minister, George Fernandes, and the Rajasthan Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot, visited the area and held discussions with Army and civil officials. Sabotage is not being ruled out.
Mr. Gehlot visited the injured in the hospital and announced compensation for the victims and assistance for the people whose houses were damaged.
