Lok Satta siding with TDP, says TRS chief
By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD, JAN. 12. Telangana Rashtra Samiti, which boycotted a televised debate of mayoral candidates organised by the Lok Satta, lashed out at its Convenor for ``brazenly serving the interests of the ruling party and acting as hand maiden of the Chief Minister.''

At a press conference, the TRS president, K. Chandrasekhara Rao, charged Lok Satta convenor, N. Jayaprakash Narayan, with ``thought-policing'' of people by word and deed.

Lok Satta claimed to champion the cause of democracy and values in public life, but ``what relationship and obligations stood in the way of it questioning day-light murder of democracy under the TDP Government?'' Mr. Chandrasekhara Rao asked.

It conveniently looked the other way, Mr. Rao proceeded, when the ruling party indulged in using money and muscle power and some of its leaders were ``caught red-handed distributing money.''

The TRS president criticised the Chief Minister for ``bulldozing the Constitution'' and not transferring powers and resources to the local bodies, 5 months after elections. He appealed to intellectuals to beware of ``Praja Vyatireka Satta.''
