SRINAGAR, JAN. 13. Four senior Hurriyat Conference leaders, including its spokesman, Abdul Rashid, were detained by police during overnight raids in Srinagar and Anantnag. Sheikh Rashid was whisked away to an unknown destination, official sources said.

Police also raided the houses of Ghulam Nabi Sumji at Bijbehara, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza at Anantnag and Ghulam Nabi Dar at Botikadal in Srinagar and picked up them.

Police searched the houses of two relatives of senior Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, at Hyderpora and Buchpora. Two brothers of Geelani's son-in-law, Altaf Ahmad Shah, were taken into custody.
