Opinion - Letters to the Editor

A balanced approach

Sir, - A close study of Pervez Musharraf's address to the people of Pakistan revealed a balanced approach in addressing the concerns of India and the international community.

Resumption of bilateral dialogue is the need of the hour in order to ensure Gen. Musharraf's stability at home, especially when he has proclaimed radical reforms for making his nation progressive, modern and dynamic.

The amicable solution to the Kashmir issue is in the spirit of accommodation with reference to ground realities. The two-nation theory does not hold water anymore in the context of the fact that the Muslims of India co-exist in harmony with the majority community.

India has wholeheartedly appreciated the positive aspects of the General's speech with the assurance that for every step Pakistan takes, India will take two.

Syed Gowher Ali,

Chennai
