BJP to release first list of candidates today
By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, JAN. 15. The central election committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party began its deliberations here this evening to finalise the list of its candidates for the forthcoming polls. Since seat-sharing arrangements with its prospective allies in the crucial election in Uttar Pradesh are yet to be finalised, today's meeting focussed on Punjab, Manipur and the byelections. The U.P. list is expected to be taken up last, possibly on January 17.

The committee met with the party president, Jana Krishnamurthi, in the chair. The Prime Minister and the Home Minister attended the meeting which was held at the former's residence. The committee will continue its sittings for the next two days till the work is completed.

The party will be releasing its first list of candidates tomorrow.
