Opinion - Letters to the Editor

Cable operators

Sir, — Cable TV operators hold consumers to ransom due to monopoly and unfair trade practices prevalent in the business. The administrative machinery under the Cable TV Networks (Regulation) Act is indifferent to the grievances of the public and the consumer has no alternative except to succumb to the operators' unfair trade practice since no other cable operator can provide the connection due to the monopoly practice prevalent among them. It is high time the authorities, including the MRTP Commission and various consumer organisations, woke up to the menace and found out a solution.

B.L. Tekriwal,
Mumbai
