BJP names 3 more candidates for bypolls

NEW DELHI, JAN. 21. The Bharatiya Janata Party today released a list of three more party candidates for the byelections - for the Kaliabor Lok Sabha seat in Assam, the candidate is Thogi Gogoi, a retired Air Force officer who had lost a son during the Kargil war. The party is hoping to ride on a sympathy wave. In the Ajmer West Assembly seat in Rajasthan, the candidate is Laxman Das Machish Vala, and for the Maharashtra Arvi Assembly constituency, the BJP will field Vijay Munde.
The BJP also announced four separate committees of senior party leaders to oversee election-related matters in the four States. In U.P., the committee is headed by Kushabhau Thakre, in Manipur by Padmanabha Acharya, in Punjab by Madan Lal Khurana, and in Uttaranchal by Puran Chandra Sharma.
