`Pak. ready to face challenge'
By B. Muralidhar Reddy

ISLAMABAD, JAN. 21. The Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf, has reiterated that while he and his country were opposed to war, Islamabad was fully prepared to face any challenge from across the borders.

Addressing the Pakistani troops in Thar and Cholistan desert this morning, Gen. Musharraf said Pakistan had repeatedly condemned terrorism in all its forms but if India still launched an attack, Pakistan was ready to accept the ``challenge.''

Referring to Pakistan's role in the international coalition against terrorism, he said Pakistan had joined the coalition in its best interests.

Musharraf to visit U.S.

Gen. Musharraf is expected to visit Washington next month in response to an invitation from the U.S. President, George W. Bush, the Pakistani news agency, NNI, has said. This will be the General's first formal visit to the U.S. after assuming power in 1999.
