Selection to Clinical Registrar post stayed
By Our Legal Correspondent
HYDERABAD, JAN. 21. Mr. Justice R. Ramanujam of the A.P. High Court on Monday stayed the finalisation of the selection to the post of Clinical Registrars at Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS).
These orders were passed in a writ petition filed by Dr. Srinivas and others complaining that the authorities were acting arbitrarily. The petitioners said that the cut off date prescribed in the notification was 2-1-2002 and the case of the candidates who did not complete the course before the cut off date was being considered against the rules. The judge permitted the process of selection to go on but restrained the finalisation.
Resident doctors' plea
The Resident Doctors Association of NIMS has charged the administration with pursuing a policy of `divide and rule' with the junior doctors in the matter of recruiting clinical registrars.
In a statement on Monday, the Association pleaded for giving an equal chance to every eligible candidate, including existing clinical registrars and postgraduates about to complete their course, to appear for the interview for the posts.
Meanwhile, the strike in NIMS entered the sixth day today with the resident doctors running a free out-patient clinic and continuing the blood donation programme.
