Pak. seals Harkat office
ISLAMABAD, JAN. 22. The Pakistan police today sealed the office of the Harkat-ul-Mujahideen, Pakistan-based militant outfit active in Kashmir.
The district magistrate sealed its office here in the presence of heavy police force, reports said. The Harkat was not
among the five militant groups banned by the Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf, recently, but was declared a terrorist organisation by the United States last October for its alleged links with the Al-Qaeda and the terrorist mastermind, Osama bin Laden.
Besides members of the Jaish-e-Mohammad and the Lashkar-e-Taiba _ the two groups accused of the December 13 attack on Parliament _ police also detained members of the Harkat and the Al-Badr and sealed their offices. And they were looking for a militant, Khalil, who had gone underground.
Commenting on the crackdown, diplomatic sources said though the Pakistani authorities had banned the Jaish and the Lashkar and arrested their members, the thrust was mainly on three sectarian outfits _ Sipha-e-Sehba, Tehriya-e-Jafriya and Tehrik-e-Nifaz-e-Shariat-e-Mohammadi. _ PTI
