Accused contests charge

BANGALORE, JAN. 24. An accused in a power theft case in Mangalore has contested that charge.

A Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) Vigilance wing press release issued here on January 11 had said that Fakhruddin Kunil, owner of Kunil Apartments in Kaprigudda, Mangalore, was involved in a power theft case. He was also fined Rs. 11 lakh.

Now Mr. Kunil has stated that he is not the owner of the apartment in question, and that no case has been registered against him.

When contacted, the KPTCL vigilance officials reiterated that Mr. Kunil had indeed built the apartment in question, and had later sold it to various people.

They said Mr. Kunil and his younger brother, Muhammad Kunil, would be chargesheeted in the course of the investigation.
